Who we are

We are Sarah, Nils, and our two kids, Leni (10) and Oskar (8). In 2024, we decided that the time was just right for us to explore the world — or at least some of its beautiful corners — together as a family.

From July 2025 through June 2026, we plan to spend a full 12 months broadening our horizons, growing even closer as a family, and creating unforgettable memories that will stay with us for a lifetime.

Our plan is to enjoy the warm summer months enjoying in the sun across Europe’s, in particular the Balkan. Then, in mid-October, we have flights booked to Indonesia, which will be our gateway for exploring the cultures and landscapes of South-East Asia. And by February or March next year, our adventure will take us to parts of Central and possibly even South America, where new discoveries await.

This blog is our little corner to keep you—family, friends, colleagues, and curious visitors—in the loop about our travels, and to share some of the experiences and stories that we are gathering along the way.

Oh… you might have been wondering what “grandiös” is supposed to mean… It was a word creation our son came up with when he was around 6, and it remains in frequent use within our family to express something outstandingly positive. And the idea is to make our journey exactly that!
